I’ve been using my work laptop all week. I’ve had many adventures in my first real week of using Windows regularly… many of those adventures showing me how much I really am not used to using Windows. I don’t hate it (though I don’t love it), it’s just very different from what I’m used to.

Apparently I missed my own computer so much that I saw it laying on the floor by my closet and started talking to it. I talked to my computer. Out loud.

I missed you, Mac.

Friend is currently rendering roughly 6 minutes (10,000 frames) at 4k by 4k resolution of a galaxy collision on Universe Sandbox. I will be slicing them tomorrow to get them formatted into a full-dome video to play on the dome.

SO MUCH DATA

SO MUCH ENJOYMENT

The end.

Why is it always better to look for shooting stars just before dawn? This shows a simulation of the Earth going on its orbit around the Sun, and encountering the debris from a comet that has passed by. This is precisely what the Earth has been doing for the past couple of days, creating the Perseid meteor shower. The A.M. half of the Earth is at the front of the orbit, and like a car’s front wind shield it picks up a lot of the debris. Have a look out for meteors again tonight! [code] [more]
